Using Text Blaze Snippets for Social Media Messaging Templates
You'll find this blog post especially useful if:
- You do a lot of social media outreach. For example, looking for beta testers for your SaaS, communicating with influencers etc...
- You handle customer support through social media
- You run or manage a social media company or community
Video Overview
The video below explains how to easily create and use Text Blaze snippets for your social media templates.
Walkthrough
And here's the procedure laid out step by step:
- Create a snippet
- Give it a name and a shortcut (any combination of characters but make it something easy to remember)
- Paste your message template into the snippet body
When it's time to use your snippet, just type the shortcut and Text Blaze will replace it with your snippet contents.
Now, as promised in the video, here are some snippet examples for you to snatch up and use. Feel free to modify them as you please.
Before we proceed, please note that the features in the snippets below are from the Pro version of Text Blaze. The free version still allows you to use snippets with Pro features, but there are some restrictions on how many times they can be used per day.
If you wish to upgrade to Text Blaze Pro, you may do so at this link: https://dashboard.blaze.today/pro
Advanced Features: How to get even more out of Text Blaze
Feature 1 - {formtext}
The {formtext} command creates an empty text field where you can input anything you want. It's great for customizing your messages. In the example below, I'm using it to customize the name of the recipient of my message.
This is just a test message. Replace this text with the contents of the message you would like to send.
Thanks a lot {=firstname}. I hope to hear from you soon.
Here are some great features of {formtext} that you might want to keep in mind.
- The {formtext} command can have a name. Note that in the example above, I named my {formtext} command by adding the setting
name=firstname
after the colon. - When you give a {formtext} a name, you can then re-use it elsewhere in the same snippet. Note what I did in the penultimate sentence: "Thanks a lot" was followed by the contents of my {formtext} field. Try changing the contents of the field in the interactive snippet window above and see what happens.
- The {formtext} command can have a default value. Note that in the example above, I gave my {formtext} command a default value by adding
default=user
after the semicolon. This comes in handy when your text field often contains the same data.
You can read more about the {formtext} command.
Feature 2 - {formparagraph}
The {formparagraph} command is similar to {formtext} but it allows you to customize your snippet with multiple paragraphs of text.
Let's continue building upon the example above.
This is just a test message. Replace this text with the contents of the message you would like to send.
{formparagraph: name=custommessage; cols=50; rows=6; default=This is the first paragraph.
And this is another paragraph.
You may go on for as long as you want.}
Thanks a lot {=firstname}. I hope to hear from you soon.
Note that just like {formtext}, the {formparagraph} allows me to add a name and also a default value. And to make it easier to work with, I've also specified the columns (in characters) and the rows (in lines) of the paragraph field.
Try writing some text in the interactive snippet window and see what happens.
You can read more about {formparagraph} command.
Feature 3 - {formtoggle}
The {formtoggle} command lets you create parts in your snippet that you can toggle on and off. In the example below, I've continued building on the previous snippet by adding a toggle section.
This is just a test message. Replace this text with the contents of the message you would like to send.
{formparagraph: name=custommessage; cols=50; rows=6; default=This is the first paragraph.
And this is another paragraph.
You may go on for as long as you want.}
Thanks a lot {=firstname}. I hope to hear from you soon. {formtoggle: name=Show End Note; default=yes} P.S. Your order has been processed and your Pro subscription is now active. Thanks again.{endformtoggle}
The {formtoggle} command is slightly different from the other two commands I showed you earlier.
It has an opening command {formtoggle}
and a closing command {formtoggle}
.
The optional parts that you want to toggle on and off should go between those two commands. Of course, you can nest a {formtext} (or any other command) inside the {formtoggle} command. Here's an example:
The {formtoggle} command also has various settings you can use. In the example above, you can see that I used default=yes
after the colon. This tells {formtoggle} that I want it to be on by default. If you want it to be off by default, just change the "yes" to a "no".
You can read more about {formtoggle} command.
Feature 4 - {formmenu}
Let's say you have multiple templates you want to use. Or maybe you have different intros for the same template.
You can do that with the {formmenu} command, which lets you define a number of options that will show up in a drop-down menu.
Here's an example that builds upon the snippet we've been using.
{formmenu: name=intro; default=Thank you for signing up for Text Blaze.; Thank you for purchasing a Text Blaze Pro subscription.}
{formparagraph: name=custommessage; cols=50; rows=6; default=This is the first paragraph.
And this is another paragraph.
You may go on for as long as you want.}
Thanks a lot {=firstname}. I hope to hear from you soon. {formtoggle: name=Show End Note; default=yes} P.S. Your order has been processed and your Pro subscription is now active. Thanks again. {endformtoggle}
Note that in {formmenu}:
- you can also set a
name
setting - each different variation is separated by a semicolon
- you may also define a default option by putting
default
before your preferred option
